SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts CGL exam for various posts. Like most other competitive examinations, the eligibility criteria for SSC CGL 2017 (Combined Graduate Level) can be categorized into three broad categories. Here are the SSC CGL eligibility criteria 2017.

SSC CGL Eligibility – Nationality

This means the citizenship a candidate belongs to. Candidate should be either an Indian citizen or

  • Subject from Nepal, or
  • Subject from Bhutan, or
  • Refugee from Tibet (provided they have entered India before 1st January 1962 with intention of permanently settling in the Indian continent) or
  • Indian origin individuals migrating from Tanzania, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Zaire, Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Burma or Pakistan with intention of permanently settling in the Indian continent
  • Apart from Indian citizens, all other candidates should posses eligibility certificate issued by Indian government.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2017 – Age Limit (as on 1st August 2017)

Age of the candidate is another important criterion to be fulfilled. As per SSC’s latest notifications, candidates’ maximum age and minimum age must be 32 years & 18 years.

Each different post have need different upper age bar. Candidates of UR category if have age maximum of 32 years can apply under Statistical Investigator Grade-II Jobs. Please refer below given chart for all other posts.

Age Relaxation: Government provides relaxation in terms of upper age to the reserved category candidates. Age relaxation of candidates from these categories is as below:

The physical standard for various vacancies under SSC CGL 2017 exam is:

Male 1600 Meter under 15 Minutes 8 KM in 30 minutes
Female 1000 Meter under 20 Minutes 3 KM in 25 Minutes

(NOTE: The Assamese, Garhwali, Gorkhas & ST candidates will get Relaxation as per norms)
