SSC CHSL Selection Procedure 2017

SSC will issued official notification for CHSL exam on 5th August 2017. The candidates should know the selection procedure of SSC CHSL exam 2017 who are preparing for the exam.

Understanding the selection procedure is an important aspect and helps in better preparation for the examination. Below here are details of the selection procedure for 2017 SSC CHSL.

SSC CHSL- Recruitment Stages

SSC has laid down two important stages for the SSC CHSL recruitment. Recruitment will be for posts of DEO (Data Entry Officers) and LDC (Lower Division Clerks) and will be of following stages:

  1. Written Examination
  2. Skill Test

The stages are described in detail as follows:

SSC CHSL Selection Procedure – Written Examination

  • Written Examination is the first stage of the SSC CHSL examination. Only those candidates who qualify in this written examination will be eligible for the skill test.
  • Department allocation of the candidates will be purely on merit bases. This means higher a candidate’s scores, higher the chances during final allotment.
  • SC (Schedule Caste), ST (Scheduled Tribe), OBC (Other Backward Classes) and PH (Physically Handicapped) candidates will have their scores adjusted against general vacancies as per their reserved allotment.
  • Written test comprises of the total two hundred marks. The test will be divided into various sections which are GI (General Intelligence), QA (Quantitative Aptitude), GA (General Awareness) and English.
  • Candidates are required to qualify in each section by scoring the minimum cut-off marks for each section prescribed by the SSC commission.
  • The paper will also carry negative marking. Therefore, it better to leave the questions for which the answers are unsure rather that attracting negative marking.

SSC CHSL Selection Procedure –Typing Test and Skill Test

This is CHSL’s final stage of the selection process. Short listing of candidates will be according to the performance in written examination. The tests will be of qualifying nature. Candidates will be tested for the skills required for performing the jobs they have applied.

Skill Test

  • Candidates qualifying the written examination will be allowed to sit for this test.
  • It is for candidates who have applied for DEO (Data Entry Operator) posts.
  • Candidates will be given printed matter with English language containing 2000- 2200 key depressions/ strokes.
  • Minimum speed for data entry is eight thousand key depressions/hour on computer.
  • The test is conducted in Hindi medium and English medium. Candidates are also required to specify their choice of language for typing while filling their application form.
  • Test will be of qualifying nature and will be computer-based, provided by authorized agency or the commission.

Typing Test

  • Typing test will be conducted for candidates applying for LDC (Lower Division Clerks) posts.
  • The test is conducted in Hindi medium and English medium. Candidates are also required to specify their choice of language for typing while filling their application form.
  • Test will be of qualifying nature and will be computer-based, provided by authorized agency or the commission.
  • Candidates are required to type in speed 35 words/minute for English language and 30 words/minute for Hindi language.

SSC CHSL Selection Procedure – Final Selection

Final Selection will be based on aggregate scores in written examination and qualifying the typing or skill test. Candidate allocation will be based on merit.
