SSC MTS Exam Pattern 2017 – Download PDF

The written examination for SSC MTS consists of two tiers. Tier-1 is objective or MCQ type and Tier-2 is subjective type. Both examinations will have different exam patterns.

SSC MTS 2017 Exam Pattern – Tier-1 Examination

  • This will be an objective type or MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) based examination.
  • Candidates will be given total of 150 questions and each question will carry one mark. Therefore, total marks in the examination will be 150.
  • Total time duration for candidates will be two hours. Candidates who are PH (Physically Handicapped) such as those suffering from cerebral palsy will be provided two hours and forty minutes to finish the examination.
  • Questions will appear in both Hindi medium and English medium.
  • The paper carries negative marking. For every incorrect response, 0.25 marks will be deducted from the total scores.
  • The paper will have four sections: GA (General Awareness), GI (General Intelligence) and Reasoning, GE (General English) and Numerical or quantitative aptitude.

SSC MTS 2017 Exam Pattern – Tier-2 Examination

  • Tier-2 examination is subjective type or descriptive type.
  • Only those candidates who have qualified the tier-1 examination will be allowed to sit for tier-2 examination.
  • In this test candidates will have to write a short essay or letter.
  • Language of the essay or letter can be English, Hindi or any other language included in the 8th schedule of Indian constitution.
  • Tier-2 examination will be of qualifying nature.
  • The paper will test the basic language skills and writing abilities of the candidates with the objective of finding their suitability as well as re-categorization for posts applied.
  • Total Marks allotted for this test will be 50 and total time given will be 30 minutes.
  • For VH and other handicapped candidates, time duration will be forty-five minutes.
